Pistores Pizza + Pastry
Pistores Pizza + Pastry in Chicago’s River North, designed by Siren Betty Design, celebrates the craftsmanship and artistry behind Joel and Andrea Reno’s work. The café’s warm, sunlit interior combines tradition and modernity through handcrafted materials, natural textures, and a palette that evokes both heritage and hospitality.
The design team used a palette of pale earthy hues—terra cotta, turquoise, sand, and persimmon—to invite warmth into the café’s 2,200 square feet and to reflect light from floor-to-ceiling garage-style windows that open to the street in warmer months. The main bar is clad in terra cotta-colored zellige tile, a handmade Moroccan clay tile that symbolizes craft and patience. Exposed brick, original to the 1890s building, adds texture and authenticity, while plaster-finished walls echo the space’s old-world sensibility. As a signature of the studio’s approach, even the restrooms reflect the design narrative, each clad in hand-painted porcelain tiles by American, woman-owned brand Haustile. The result is a space that feels refined, grounded, and distinctly Siren Betty Design.
