Cafe Yaya

Nestled in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, Cafe Yaya is a sophisticated yet approachable all-day destination - the softer, more casual sibling of Michelin-starred restaurant Galit (which happens to be next door).  Cafe Yaya's centerpiece is undoubtedly its expansive bar, which sits next to an inviting pastry counter - this serves as a deliberate design choice announcing the cafe's twin focuses on wine and fresh-baked goods.

Inspired by the cafes of Tel Aviv and Paris, Siren Betty Design layered raw, natural materials with softer, polished finishes. Exposed brick walls retain the building's historical integrity while encaustic tiles introduce subtle pattern and visual interest. Natural wood tones provide warmth and grounding, allowing the more refined elements to shine. This interplay creates a rich textural experience that feels at once timeless and entirely of the moment.

Café Yaya's atmosphere perfectly communicates its concept: an accessible neighborhood gathering place transitioning seamlessly from morning coffee and pastries to evening wine and small plates. The layout encourages both quick visits and lingering afternoons, with thoughtfully arranged seating that accommodates various dining experiences throughout the day.
