Pistores Pizza + Pastry

Pistores Pizza + Pastry in Chicago’s River North celebrates the craftsmanship and artistry behind Joel and Andrea Reno’s work. Siren Betty Design integrates handcrafted materials, natural textures, and a warm, sunlit palette to create a café interior that balances tradition, modernity, and hospitality.

The design team used a palette of pale earthy hues—terra cotta, turquoise, sand, and persimmon—to invite warmth into the café’s 2,200 square feet and to reflect light from floor-to-ceiling garage-style windows that open to the street in warmer months. The main bar is clad in terra cotta-colored zellige tile, a handmade Moroccan clay tile that symbolizes craft and patience. Exposed brick, original to the 1890s building, adds texture and authenticity, while plaster-finished walls echo the space’s old-world sensibility. As a signature of the studio’s approach, even the restrooms reflect the design narrative, each clad in hand-painted porcelain tiles by American, woman-owned brand Haustile. A space that feels refined, grounded, and distinctly Siren Betty Design.
