Meet our neighbor Nate Berkus, though you may not have needed the introduction. Since establishing his firm in 1995 Berkus has authored two New York Times bestsellers, and has collaborated with brands like Target and Shade Store. His firm has also awarded a space on the AD100 in 2018 and ELLE DÉCOR’s “A-list” of global designers. And we’re lucky enough to be across the street from his Chicago office!
We love Nate for his airy and modern design style that always manages to make a space feel like home. His impressive vision has carried him through the times of changing interior trends.
We of course have to mention some of our favorite projects of his, beginning with this one in our hometown.
Some of our favorite aspects include the statement table thats color is highlighted well by the floor to ceiling windows. Also, who can resist that tub! We dream of a night routine in a bathroom like that, with its crystal chandelier and golden accents.
This project begun as a single room but was expanded to encompass the whole house. We’re drawn to this space in Los Angeles for the rich colors of the couches and the funky light fixtures that make the home unique. The wraparound bookshelves help the house feel more comfortable and welcoming as well.
Finally, we have to mention his own home. The expansive 1928 Spanish Colonial has been converted to home that is airy and bright with classic, time worn accents. We like the way Nate curated his wall hangings for this space, and the smokey tile in the entryway balanced by warm accents.
