Pink Squirrel Project Details
We are so excited to be able to finally announce our latest project, The Pink Squirrel! This space has had such an amazing transformation, and we’ve had a great time coming up with some unique features to make this spot one of our favorites. We have been dying to share the design details with you and we think you're really going to dig this retro soda shoppe inspired cocktail bar.
The first and most obvious thing we have to talk about is the use of pink in the space. Pink is a staple for any retro home so we knew it would be fun to use this color and make Pink Squirrel feel like an authentic 1960’s Wisconsin cocktail bar. For seating, we designed a vintage inspired booths made by Waco Manufacturing and reupholstered them with two fabrics. We combined a light sparkly vinyl from Vogue Fabrics in Evanston with a pink velvet fabric from Maxwell's to make the most insane and beautiful vintage style booths you could imagine. We are so excited about this feature and love the way it turned out.
We decided to paint the walls pink to lighten up the space and keep the colors consistent. We also had the chance to be creative and put some pink on the walls in the bathroom. For this, we used a unique wallpaper from Spoonflower, with a simple pink cat pattern that is used as a contrast to the white tile. This was the perfect pop of color that the bathroom needed and the retro cats really continued the consistent theme we see throughout the space.
For this project, we had the chance to salvage a lot of the items and had a great time finding pieces that would give this space a totally authentic feel. Because the space features a two-lane duck-pin bowling alley, the decision to add thrifted bowling trophies as decor was a no-brainer. The trophies give the space a sense of nostalgia and makes you feel like you have been transported to the 1960’s. We also salvaged lamps, lamp shades, vintage motorcycle photos and vintage wall coverings to give the space a completely authentic vibe.
Pink Squirrel is the most exciting new addition to Logan Square, and with all of the anticipation, it is clear that it is going to become a hotspot. Stop by Pink Squirrel and explore their unique menu including a variety of boozy ice cream cocktails while also pushing the boundaries with 40-50 traditional cocktails with a few twists. This is seriously the perfect retro spot, and we are looking forward to hanging out, sipping on a pink squirrel cocktail, and playing a game or two!
