Eaves
Set on the first floor of Chicago’s historic Lyric Opera House, Eaves transforms a long-dormant interior into a richly layered restaurant and cocktail bar. Siren Betty Design approached the project as an adaptive reuse, drawing inspiration from the building’s ornament and theatrical setting. The result feels intimate, established, and full of character.
The decorative eaves that inspired the restaurant’s name became the foundation of the design. Warm woodwork, hand-finished walls, patterned textiles, and deep blue millwork bring depth to the room. A luminous gold ceiling adds drama overhead. Collected art, vintage objects, tailored lighting, and velvet drapery give the interior personality, while the expansive bar and comfortable banquettes support everything from daytime dining to pre-theater cocktails.
Eaves honors the romance of its setting without feeling fixed in the past. Storied yet fresh, elegant yet relaxed, the restaurant feels entirely at home within one of Chicago’s most celebrated cultural landmarks.
